Unbeaten former prize fighter champion Johnny Coyle secured a 97-94 points win over Philip Bowes to win the vacant southern area welterweight title in another exciting title fight on the packed card. In the first round Coyle used a great jab and sharp head movement to open the round but Bowes southpaw left give Coyle some trouble that started an onslaught of punches, Coyle got out of trouble with his footwork to keep the round even.

Coyle continued to move very well through the 3rd and fourth rounds picking his shots and keeping a high guard. In the fifth round Bowes had his best spell with a cracking left hook and continuous pressure but in the 6th round Coyle worked with the pressure and done well up close with a right body shot that shook Bowes.

Into the later rounds Coyle stayed behind his jab, doubling up and stayed out of trouble. Bowes used his southpaw left well but had nothing in the tank to trouble Coyle who’s unbeaten record is now 10-0 with one draw.

A well deserved victory, congratulations from everybody at Ringside Boxing UK.
